Sonic Triptych: A Laboratory of Sound in Three Counterpoints

Coffee Technology and the Mechanical Ghosts of Slavery

Can methodologies associated with participant observation offer insight into the sonic dimensions of a bygone era? Participants in this experiment will visit the archaeological site of the Fraternidad Coffee Plantation - a two-hour drive from Santiago. The site is an active archaeological site and offers participants a wide array of possibilities to consider ways in which anthropologists of sound can study the past through location recordings.
